Cheshire Cat Times

Most sportives won’t publish results in any other form than in alphabetical order so as to emphasise the “challenge” nature of this type of ride. It’s a standpoint I completely agree with, but I also like to compare my performance with the field so took the liberty of putting the results on to a Google spreadsheet for anyone to have a look at. I’ve stripped out all the non-starters/non-finishers and a few obviously anomalous results but it still leaves some astonishing times. The fastest time recorded for the 102 mile option was, apparently, 4 hrs 2 mins, or an average speed of slightly over 25mph which I guess would be a solid pro standard for such a route. The fastest time for the 66 mile option is an even more incredible 2 hrs 10 mins, or over 30mph average speed. Hmm.

Anyway, here’s the spreadsheet.

For the record, my official time was:

6:44:49 which placed me 263rd out of 796 riders who completed the 102 mile route.

I agree with your comments, still the ranked list is useful, thanks. I think there are too many people who did the 66m route listed here against the 102m. I know of at least 2, so I suspect there are many more. As you say just over 4h is almost pro standard. Pity the age groups aren’t listed by Kilotogo.

I do wonder what was the point of the timing mats at the feedstops at the Cheshire Cat…
Not only were they they cr*ppiest mats I’ve ever seen, that could only handle ‘one-at-a-time’ so you had to queue to ride over them, but they then appear to have been no use whatever
- not used to publish intermediate times
- not used to determine which riders did the 66 or 102 routes
So what was the point ?
