In the catalogue of ridiculous injuries…

Sports types always tend to have a wry chuckle when they read newspaper reports of highly paid professional footballers injuring themselves walking the dog or tripping over the coffee table. The feeling is “there for the Grace of God…”

Yesterday I sneezed. And in so doing I ricked my neck. It got progressively worse and I quickly came to the conclusion that the day’s easy bike/run session would have to be binned. This was made doubly bad by reading about @rocuronium‘s weekend schedule on Twitter. He is a Dorset based triathlete heading for Ironman Brazil in 5 weeks. On Saturday he did a 15km bike ride followed by a 5km run, four times, then finished off with a 4km swim! If that wasn’t enough, on Sunday he followed it up with a 100 mile bike ride and hasn’t even got a rest day scheduled for today! I reckon he’s on for a pretty good finish time for the race. I’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime, it’s back to the ibuprofen, stretching and ice for me :-(

Sorry to hear that John, I too am nursing an injury but I think that’s because I’m not suited to running. Remeber RICE ( rest/ice/compression/elevation) Can you elevate your neck?
