Tour of the Pennines

Above Saddleworth

Above Saddleworth

I don’t usually blog at 6:30 in the morning, but my little lad was woken up by the wind at 5:15 this morning and wouldn’t settle. I need to get up early anyway as today is the Tour of the Pennines cycle-sportive based on the Uppermill area near Oldham. It’s still dark as I write this, but at least it’s dry – the main factor that will add interest to today’s 100km ride is the wind. We are, however, promised a free curry from the Lana Thai restaurant, and anybody who knows me will be aware that getting between me and a curry is somewhat more dangerous than getting between a lioness and her cub. Expect, then, to see a red and white Principia forcing the pace across the moors to get to the finish first ;-)

This will definitely be my last ride of the season. I still seem to be quite fit after the summer’s exertions, but I’m finding it harder and harder to find the motivation to ride and I think I’m due a break for a couple of weeks.
