Ironman UK 2010 bike route

Here is the bike route for Ironman UK 2010 on Mapmyride. Only the top section of the course from Rivington onwards remains the same as this year’s course. All the lanes around Croston have been cut in favour of a long southerly leg on the A49 which significantly improves the road surface of the route and should make it faster.

A couple of points to note:

  1. The digital mapping still hasn’t caught up with the new road through the industrial estate in Chorley (2nd feed on the map)
  2. The feed at the top of Rivington Pike has been moved to Abbey Village meaning that the two feeds are fairly close together, but there shouldn’t be the problems of lack of water at the top of the Pike for slower athletes as happened this year.

I won’t wait until a week before to ride the course this time! I’ll blog as soon as I’ve ridden it.
