The pain was worth it

The results have been published for the Jodrell Bank Sportive. For the 50 mile route I was 3rd overall and 1st over 40. That’s by far the best result I’ve had in a sportive. I’m sure some of the super quick guys on the 80 miler would have gone under 2:30 for the 50, but I’m still chuffed: over 200 riders did the 50 mile option.

For the 80 mile version, no-one ducked under the 4 hour mark, but one guy came extremely close – he missed by 18 agonising seconds. I wonder if it was the guy on the BMC I was following at the start?

Wow! Fantastic result – congratulations!! And that on a bad winter’s training!

Excellent! That’s a great result considering the bad weather we’ve had having an impact on winter training.

Think you can replicate it for the Cheshire Cat?

Did you win anything?

Normally you don’t get prizes for “winning” a sportive, it’s the challenge of finishing. Prizes for fstaest riders make it a race, not a sportive.
